Abstract
The work presents the mathematical programming approach to wheat production efficiency analysis based on the data of five agricultural enterprises representing five growing regions of Slovakia. In the analysis a non-parametric method of Data Envelopment Analysis was used. DEA enables to evaluate the relative efficiency of decision-making units on the basis of their mutual comparison in terms of input to output transformation. The DEA solution provides unambiguous distinction of efficient and inefficient units. For ranking efficient units, a modified Andersen and Petersen's version of DEA, based upon comparison of efficient units relative to the reference technology spanned by all other units; was used. The result of the analysis is the ranking of wheat producers by efficiency.
