The purpose of the coverage was to define and discuss sustainable development indicators of European Union facing the current science and innovations. There have been established several actions which should be fulfilled in the countries of European Union, so as the purpose of providing stable sustainable development would be achieved. Bio-economy is the basis of development of current and future world economy. In the article there have been used statistics of the Eurostat, legislations and specialist literature.
