Abstract
A deep tube-well based agaricultural development project was launched with GTZ funding in Tangail district in 1985. In order to monitor progress and impact, a rapid appraisal of twelve selected villages was conducted to provide a baseline scenario. The villages represented different demographic, economic, ecological and agricultural production conditions. In this paper, summary of the profiles of the selectd villages is presented.
