This report traces the demand for water in various sectors of the economy of six Upper Midwest States of the United States. Expected trends in water demand are projected. The conclusions show that for the period from 1960 to 1985 the annual a e of increase for the demand for water withdrawals in each of the six Upper Midwest States increased between 1.3 percent to 2 . 4 percent for the mountain states and between 3.3 and 5.1 percent for the plains states.
