Abstract

This paper examines co-management of a spiny lobster fishery located in Punta Allen, Quintana Roo, Mexico. Decision trees are used to analyze voluntary compliance behavior by fishers. Results indicate that legitimacy with respect to the process and the outcome of the rules lead to perceptions of fairness which in turn results in high compliance rates.
