A considerable share of agricultural land in Poland is year by year converted for other purposes which
is obviously linked with their withdrawal from production. After the accession to the EU this process has
accelerated. However it has to be underlined that bulk part of the land converted was of high agricultural
quality which in line with binding legal framework should be subject of particular protection. The paper
concerns the background and scope of this process.
