Abstract
The article includes an attempt to assess the level of price competitiveness of Polish meat sector in the
European Union market. Special attention has been paid to the state of Polish producers price advantage
relative to the EU’s main competitors, ie the largest manufacturers and exporters of meat and meat products
in the European Union. The study covered the years 2008-2013. In creating competitive advantages in the
Polish meat sector prices play an important role. This is indicated by both the analysis of market prices
of basic products of the meat sector, which are lower in Poland than in the EU countries, as well as the
analysis of prices in the following link of food chain. In the future, it is expected that Polish meat producers
manage to maintain a price advantage in the EU market, however their level will be systematically reduced.
