The aim of the article was the possibilities assessment of tourist development in communes with a large
share of protected areas by the example of zachodniopomorskie province. The research was conducted on
both the rural and urban–rural communes. The communes determinants levels was determined using the
synthetic indicator. The highest level of determinants for tourist development characterized the communes
located in the south-east part of the Zachodniopomorskie as well as in the coastal communes.
