Abstract
The objective of the study was to evaluate the profitability of starchy potato cultivation on an agricultural
holding in the years 2010-2012. Empirical data was obtained from the owner of the farm who has signed a longterm
contract and cooperated with the food industry enterprise ‘PEPEES’ in Łomża. The highest marketable
yield of starchy tubers was recorded in 2011. The production value per 1 ha varied in individual years and
ranged from 6,002.0 to 10,649.6 PLN. The income was highly variable in individual years depending on the
yield level and the price per produced unit. Direct costs affected the economic effectiveness of starchy potato
cultivation, too. Seed potato and fuel costs accounted for the greatest proportion of the total costs. Starchy
potato production was the most profitable in 2011.
