Abstract
The objective of the article is to exhibit the importance of culinary tourism to the countryside areas of
Slovenia. A variety of actions taken there in order to activate local communities is presented, along with
examples of how some of these ideas could be applied in Poland. Furthermore, the evaluations of tourism’s
level of development and tourists’ preferences are done. A special focus is put on the country’s gastronomic
variety and the importance of culinary regions for developing culinary tourism offers.
