A lo largo de 2001, la Comision Europea dara a conocer su propuesta legislativa para reforma de la Politica Pesquera Comun. Este trabajo tiene el proposito de analizar la politica estructural de la pesca y realizar una valoracion de los efectos de dicha politica sobre la sobredimension de la flota. Para ello, primero se repasa su evolucion, despues se analizan los efectos recientes de la misma y, por ultimo, se evaluan los principales resultados en el ultimo periodo de aplicacion. la principal conlusion es que, el supuesto fracaso de la PPC para alcanzar el equilibrio entre capacidad pesquerea y recursos naturales disponibles, no es responsabilidad, al menos en exclusiva, de la politica estructural seguidad respecto a la flota. Throughout 2001, the European Commission will make public its legislative proposal for the reform of the Common Fisheries Policy. The purpose of the present paper is to analyse the structural fisheries policy and to make a valuation of its effects on the fleet overcapacity. In order to reach that goal, firstly its evolution is revised, later the recent effects of that policy are analysed and, finally, principal results are evaluated in the last period of implementation. The main conclusion drawn is that, the supposed failure of the PPC to reach the balance between fishing capacity and natural available resources, is not an exclusive responsibility of the structural policy followed with regard to the fishing fleet.
