En este trabajo se realiza una valoración cuantitativa del impacto de la integración de España en la Unión Europea sobre el comercio exterior agrario mediante la utilización de una ecuación de gravedad. Se confirma la hipótesis de que la liberalización comercial y la adopción de la Política Agraria Común ha significado un cambio estructural en el patrón de comercio agrario prevaleciente, produciendo una creación muy modesta de comercio en exportaciones y una desviación de comercio muy significativa en importaciones; por otra parte se concluye que la integración, por sí misma, no parece ser la responsable principal del deterioro de la balanza comercial agraria durante el período de adhesión......This paper examines the impact on the agricultural trade as a consequence of the Spanish integration into the European Union, using a gravity equation analysis. The results confirm the hypothesis that a greater liberalization of trade and the adoption of the Common Agricultural Policy, have introduced a structural change in the traditional pattern of international agricultural trade. The consequences of this structural change are a weak trade creation of agricultural exports and a very important trade diversion of agricultural imports. On the other hand, a conclusion that may be drawn is that the unbalanced agricultural trade during the accession period is not a direct consequence of the economic integration.
