Abstract
Avian Influenza caused losses to poultry producers in East Java in 2003 and 2004. Two surveys of
poultry producers in affected districts were conducted in September 2005. One was of 125 broiler
producers and the other of 125 egg producers. Based on results from these surveys the relationship
between farmer and farm characteristics and likelihood of infection of poultry by Avian Influenza is
examined using cluster analysis and probit analysis.
