Total cost was defined as the financial cost associated with raising a calf through the weaning stage; production, as pounds weaned per exposed female; and profits, as a rate of return on assets. Variable affecting one of more performance measures included herd size; pounds of feed fed; real estate, machinery, and breeding-stock investments; calving percentage; death loss; and breeding-season length. Management variables were especially important for financial costs and profitability of the cow-herd operation. 000043687 546__ $$aEnglish 000043687 650__ $$aProduction Economics 000043687 6531_ $$abeef 000043687 6531_ $$acattle 000043687 6531_ $$acosts 000043687 6531_ $$acow-calf 000043687 6531_ $$aeconomics 000043687 6531_ $$aproduction 000043687 6531_ $$aprofits 000043687 6531_ $$areturn on assets 000043687 700__ $$aRamsey, Ruslyn 000043687 700__ $$aDoye, Damona G. 000043687 700__ $$aWard, Clement E. 000043687 700__ $$aMcGrann, James M. 000043687 700__ $$aFalconer, Lawrence L. 000043687 700__ $$aBevers, Stanley J. 000043687 773__ $$q91$$o99$$tJournal of Agricultural and Applied Economics$$j37$$k01$$dApril 2005 000043687 8564_ $$91f52bd53-f893-4c4a-af5c-1bdea8a53917$$s649475$$uhttps://ageconsearch.umn.edu/record/43687/files/91-99.pdf 000043687 887__ $$ahttp://purl.umn.edu/43687 000043687 909CO $$ooai:ageconsearch.umn.edu:43687$$pGLOBAL_SET 000043687 912__ $$nSubmitted by Dave Sites (dks3@ra.msstate.edu) on 2008-09-30T14:48:33Z No. of bitstreams: 1 91-99.pdf: 649475 bytes, checksum: f4a4e2b8fc4d166256cbfed72acce975 (MD5) 000043687 912__ $$nMade available in DSpace on 2008-09-30T14:48:34Z (GMT).
