Excerpt: The history of the plow goes back to the very earliest times – not originally the implement now called a plow, but what answered the purpose centuries ago. Many writers have attempted to outline the history of this implement, but all accounts are more or less incomplete. It is, therefore, impossible to describe all the steps taken by the many inventors who have had a part in producing the plow as we know it today, but some of the more important ones are mentioned herein, together with the sources from which the data are taken.
