Professor Jose Enrique Coello C. reviews the key aspects of the international academic seminar “Sustainable food systems: Transformations and challenges in the contemporary world and in Venezuela.” This event was held between July and August 2025 on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the creation of the Edgar Abreu Olivo Agri-Food Research Center (CIAAL-EAO) of the Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences (FACES) of the University of Los Andes (ULA, Venezuela). The aim was to highlight the ongoing transformations in food systems (FS) and the economic, technological, political, cultural, and environmental conditions that shape development alternatives aimed at strengthening the food and nutritional security of the population.
