Population growth and increasing demand for food worldwide will require countries to increase agricultural production by raising productivity rates, at the expense of a smaller geographical area per capita. This study analyzed the use of drones (also known as Unmanned Aerial Vehicles [UAVs]) as a technological alternative in precision agriculture to assist farmers, managers, and/or agronomists in making more assertive decisions on their properties. To this end, this study applied questionnaires in different Brazilian states to professionals linked to agribusiness, which generally revealed a lack of information regarding the use of this technology, such as the real benefits of using this product, the difficulties in operating the equipment, the regulations of the National Civil Aviation Agency [ANAC], and finally, the costs of acquiring a drone. Thus, it is noted that there is a market niche to be explored, due to a growing demand for this type of product, but with some points that need to be improved for the successful use of this new technology, such as better promotion of companies operating in this segment, consulting and courses for farmers, and technical assistance in the main centers of Brazilian agribusiness.
