After the second world war, increasing production was the main purpose of the french agronomic thought. This problem was a real one, but it is now solved. For the time being, we have to think the unresolved problems in the field : how to find a compromise between bio agriculture and intensive forming methods ? How to save energy ? Is there feasible production system (including forestry) in mountainous areas ? How to preserve the existing stock of animal and vegetal genes from uniformity ? How to avoid the detrimental consequences of the demographic explosion in developing countries ? How to develop tropical agronomic research ?
