Although fairly brilliant during the 19th century, the french school of agricultural economics has been decoying during the first half of this century. It recovered after 1950. Nevertheless, many short comings are still present : not enough field trips, too much wording, insufficient concern with methodology. We need a new type of economic engineering in agricultural economics.
