Poultry productions soared in the EEC during the thirty pas years. Together, in 1987, the twelve countries have produced more than 80 billion eggs and 5,8 million tons of poultry meat. But while the growth of international outlets has been stopped for some years, production has increased, mainly as a consequence of a greater per capita consumption and of increased exchanges between european countries. There is a geographical concentration, with poultry production concentrating in a smaler number of regions, where costs are lower. But the comparison of coasts is not easy with few and heterogeneous data.
