Objective: to analyze the cost-benefit relationship of post-postplasty in bulls for their re-entry into reproductive programs in bovine production companies.Design/Methodology/Approach: a descriptive, non-probabilistic study was carried out. The patients were 10 zebu bulls with chronic ulcerative balanoposthitis. Xylazine was applied intramuscularly at a dose of 0.1 mg kg1 of body weight as a tranquilizer. A 360° incision was made in the mucocutaneous limbus to remove the injured tissue. Vessels of large caliber were ligated with transfixion points. Four points were placed cardinally with monophilic nylon suture to expand the mucosa and be able to suture it to the skin; these same fastening points were fixed with a surgeon’s point and subsequently four points were placed between them.Results: the cost benefit ratio was 4.20, meaning that for each peso invested, such peso was recovered and an extra profit of $3.20 (three Mexican pesos 20/100) was also obtained. The 10 bulls operated with the described technique had recovery in a 90-day postoperative period.Study limitation/implications: the indicators were calculated with the economic and technical data obtained in the present study.Findings/conclusions: the indicators show that post-postplasty in bulls for their re-entry to reproductive programs in bovine production companies was economically and technically efficient, being $4.20 (four Mexican pesos 20/100), at the same time that the bulls in a period of 90 days began with its zootechnical function.
