Objective: To identify the presence of heavy metals in Anas diazi Ridgway organs (mexican duck).Methodology/design: analyses of scientific publications.Results: Heavy metals are particles that bioaccumulate in organisms, these have negative effects on health, such as affecting their growth and proper development. For the study and analysis of toxic particles such as heavy metals, water birds are mostly monitored. The main heavy metals to which the anatids are exposed are mercury, arsenic, lead and chromium.Limitations of the study/implications: Heavy metal pollution has become a very important public health problem, given the high degree of severity or impact on animals, plants, water, soil, air and humans.Findings/conclusions: Remediation measures are required to be implemented in wetlands through proposals for the reduction of industry pollutants, mines, or any heavy-metal environment.
