The distinction between « introduction » and « reintroduction » of an animal species in a given area is not always easy. The opinion voiced by local people does not always match that of scientific experts and protectors. In practice one can notice that the « natural » biotope of a species is largely anthropized, chiefly through traditional agropastoral practices. When the latter have disappeared and if it is impossible to recreate them, it becomes necessary to reestablish the biotope of a species through various artificial means, in order to recreate the conditions of natural environment where the animal is to live. But the (re)introduction practices cannot be limited to a mere technical and economical finalized instrumentalization. It then becomes indispensable to consider the creation of an animal as a symbolic subject. From this point of view the author emphasizes the notion of bestiary.
