What makes the Portuguese land reform so original is the important part taken by the workers in the action. After having occupied one million hectares belonging to the largest land owners, the workers have established collective production ways which are a possible alternative to the capitalist farm model in a liberal economy. The aim of the present drastic counter land reform is to destroy this working class experiment.
