Official agricultural regions of France do not give an objective account of the variety of land utilization and do not fulfil their initial double role which was statistical and operational. Modern classifications of farms according to their technical and economic orientations could serve as a basis for better spatial projections a/id more credible new deliberations which would serve traditional users of agricultural statistics but also country planers.
