A comparative analysis of peasant cocoa plantations in two forest zones one in the Ivory Coast, one in the Cameroons. They followed clearly diverging evolutions. So there is no single process explaining the emergence and the nature of those peasant plantation economies. Historical analysis sheds light on the development aspirations of the various social groups involved.
