The problems facing Great Britain as a result of the Common Agricultural Policy - This paper reviews some of the main problems facing the United Kingdom as a result of the operation of the Common Agricultural Policy. It tresses that the policy challenges deeply held British attitudes towards the level of food prices and to traditional commonwealth exporters of food. The C.A.P. involves a set of arrangements ill suited to british needs and suggests that in an enlarged Community the pooling of power may frustrate the legitimate political interests of the U.K. Finally the paper discussed four economic problems created by the Common Agricultural Policy for Britain ; stress on the balance of payments, an addition to existing inflationary pressures, a loss of national income and the need to make substantial changes in the British agricultural industry.
