Farm problems as seen by farmers taking part in a television program on local farm promotion in 1970 - The article analyses the situation as seen by the farmers during four programs of local farm promotion in the South-West of France in 1970. Two groups can be clearly distinguished through their attitude towards the present economic development of agriculture : for and against this development. The economic policy these two groups whish to be applied to agriculture is evidently contradictory : the former suggests an adjustment policy, the latter a policy of protection. The existance of these two opinions explains perhaps the contradictions of the present agricultural policy. When the farmers talk about economic systems, they are all convinced that a planing of Swedish type with an active participation of the parties would be appropriate. The previous contradictions might be overcome through this solution.
