This analysis classifies the French farms by regions in homogeneous groups, each represented by a model. The description and aggregation on a regional and national level of the physical and economic characteristics of the 5 000 models are based on data from the 1963 BC survey carried out by the Service Central des Enquêtes et Etudes Statistiques and on boo\-\eeping data collected by the farm management associations. The consistency is checked by a number of tests. Though the « 1962 analysis » points out the necessity of differentiating the agricultural policy, this analysis alone cannot give all the information necessary.
