      abstract = {Excerpts from the Executive Summary:  This study sought to  evaluate the impact of food price and subsidy policies and  practices and trade regime on food production, marketing,  food consumption and nutrition.  The study was undertaken  to provide a better understanding of the ways in which food  price policies and practices affect various constituents in  the food and nutrition system and provide a basis for  modifying current programmes or introducing new ones to  improve the performance of the food and nutrition system.   The specific objectives of the study were:  1.  To develop  criteria against which food policies and programmes  (particularly food price and subsidy policies and  practices) could be assessed in terms of their economic and  nutritional effects.  2.  Identify and describe the food  policies and programmes in Antigua and St. Vincent during  the sixties to the present time.  3.  Measure and analyse  the effects of these policies and programmes on food  production, imports and consumption during the same period.   4.  Analyse the structure, conduct and performance of  agricultural marketing systems.  5.  Develop and refine a  methodology for assessing the impact of food price and  subsidy policies and food marketing systems on nutrition.   6.  Improve the performance of the food and nutrition  system.},
