Abstract

The Western Australia pig industry is relatively small and atomised. The industry development strategy formulated in 1996 recommended significant growth and concentration This paper presents the results of an investigation into the optimal location for pig production and processing. The techniques included qualitative and quantitative analyses and geographical information systems. The results of these studies are proving to be a very valuable resource to private and public bodies actively involved in attracting or initiating investment within Western Australia.
