Abstract

The article is devoted to examining the possibilities of developing renewable energy sources (RES) in rural areas of Ukraine, taking into account climate change. Rural areas, and especially agriculture, have a significant potential to generate energy in an environmentally friendly way, as well as using their own renewable resources. By reducing greenhouse gas emissions, such activities will allow to strengthen energy security and mitigate the negative impact of the energy and agricultural sectors on climate change. In this context, the article considers various RES technologies that can be implemented in rural areas of Ukraine, provides examples and analyzes the possibilities and barriers to their development. In addition, attention is paid to the actions necessary to adapt agriculture to the ongoing climate change - both to reduce the contribution of the energy and agricultural sectors to the negative impact on the climate, and to adapt agriculture so that it continues to perform its functions and maintains an appropriate level of efficiency.
