Abstract

Agricultural banks with formal calling programs win more new business than banks without them. Bankers involved in calling programs say patience and persistence are needed, because it takes time to convince farmers--especially the most desirable borrowers- -to switch banks. Most bankers do not call ahead; instead, they drop in on their prospects, talking to the farmers as they work in the field.
