abstract = {This study analyses the efficiency of rice producers in allocating the resources available to them for production by collecting cross-sectional data from 255 producers in west-central Côte d'Ivoire. A Cobb-Douglass type function is used to examine the determinants of production, and the elasticities from the ordinary least squares (OLS) estimation results are then used in the marginal product value and marginal factor cost approach to determine whether or not farmers allocate their resources efficiently. The results indicate that seed has a positive effect on production, but is underutilised, while labour has a positive effect on production, but is over-utilised by producers. Farm equipment has a non-significant negative effect on production and is overused by producers. The study recommends a training programme for producers to improve their capacity to manage production resources, and the implementation of a programme to produce quality seed to increase yields.},
