Abstract

Migrants who had moved to a rural area of southern Kentucky within the last 5 years earned no more, on average, than long-term residents. But those who had moved to the area 5-10 years earlier earned far more, despite similar characteristics with the recent migrants. This article identifies the significant factors influencing wages for each group of residents in a rapidly growing nonmetro area.
