Excerpts from the report Highlights: This research was undertaken using a multiple regression model that would serve one or more of the following purposes: (1) determine the factors associated with location of individual manufacturing industries, (2) project the spatial distribution of manufacturing industries, and (3) provide assistance to local development planners in evaluating the prospects for their areas to acquire additional employment in specific manufacturing industries. The 506 State economic areas were used as the grid system for location analysis. The four-digit (Standard Industrial Classification) manufacturing category was chosen for industry analysis. Fifty-three industries were analyzed in the study.
