Abstract

Using 2007-12 administrative SNAP records for New York counties, ERS and Census Bureau researchers investigated the impact of local labor market conditions on the likelihood that SNAP recipients leave the program. The researchers found that a 1-percent increase in county employment resulted in a nearly four-fold increase in the likelihood that an adult recipient would leave the program.
