abstract = {Modern trends in tourism show the increasing role that sustainability has on this industry. Sustainable development is integral to the concept of national parks forming a new kind of tourism which is increasingly becoming the future of all forms of business. The overall goal of sustainable development (SD) is the longterm stability of the economy and environment, which can be achievable through the integration and acknowledgement of economic, environmental, and social concerns throughout the decision making process. In this paper we will show that the protected areas from the point of view of sustainability are moderators of development design in the areas in which they are located. National parks of Montenegro, with their diversity of potentials, can fully meet the contemporary requirements of world tourism and, in the long term, take position as a world destination by applying the concept of sustainable development.},
