Abstract

The rate of return to public expenditures on research and extension aimed at increasing productivity at the farm level was estimated to be 22 percent for the 1939-72 period. It declined over time, from 25 percent for the 1939-48 period to 19. 5 percent for the 1969'" 72 period.
