Abstract

This paper examines grain market organization, marketing functions, costs and margins in Senegal. Survey data on private sector sales volumes, storage, transportation and financing indicate costs and margins exceeding government guidelines, but not necessarily excessive. Implications for policy choices involving private, public and parastatal market participants are examined.
