Abstract

This study describes and analyzes the West German agricultural sector. Agricultural production and trade are addressed individually, and regression analysis is used to analyze the economic factors which influence them. Some of the implications of our findings, reflecting the agricultural sector's response to policy changes and changes in the economic environment, are included. The effect of Germany's participation in the Common Agricultural Policy of the European Community is discussed. Specific inferences about the implications of price and policy decisions for U.S. agricultural trade with Germany are presented.
