Agricultural extension work should be seen as an important instrument of agricultural and rural development and it requires more serious attention regarding it’s organization and planning. Extension planning is a complex issue, both in theory and practice. Planning requires expertise and interdisciplinary cooperation, due to it’s multidimensional character that comprises many problems. The approach to extension planning is from the standpoint of rural sociology. In the paper we present key problem areas and give explanations of basic elements of extension planning that must be fulfilled in order to have positive impacts of extension process.
