Abstract
The field research was conducted in 2009-2012 years at the Agricultural Research Station the Institute
of Soil Science and Plant Cultivation – State Research Institute in Grabów, on grey-brown podsolic soil
(pgm.gl) in the ecological system. The study concerned 4 terms of cutting of uneaten herbage in the sward
mixture legume-grass, grazed by cows: 1 – ungrazed herbage left unmowed, 2 – cutting of uneaten herbage
after the 1st grazing event, 3 – cutting uneaten herbage after the last grazing event, 4 – cutting uneaten
herbage after each grazing event. The aim of the research was to determine the optimal frequency of cutting
of uneaten herbage in production, quality and economical terms. The results showed that a single cutting
of uneaten herbage after the last grazing event (object 3.) was the best solution. The highest share of the
direct costs were fertilizers and fuel.
