Abstract

Inequalities in size distribution on rural household consumer expenditure between different districts in Bangladesh are measured in this note. Data were taken from Household Expenditure Survey of Bangladeah,1973-74 and the Gini-Lorenz Concentration Curve is used to measure the extent of inequality. Results indicate that between district inequalities account for 26 percent of the overall inequalities in consumption share of the rural population in Bangladesh. In order to promote more equitable distribution of income it is necessary to eliminate this 26 percent of the overall inequality through proper planning by Government.
