In this method link delay is calculated as a function of flow on that link as well as flow on adjacent links, using intersection delay calculations. This method employs a combination of Frank-Wolf and the method of successive averages to model multi-path vehicle assignment in a reasonable amount of computational time, for small and medium size transportation networks. Inclusion of volume-based intersection delays in regional planning models is not yet widespread in practice. The objective of this paper is to consider the impact of volumebased (dynamic) intersection delays on multi-path traffic assignments in medium size transportation networks. The approach selected is designed to provide more realistic results than those generated by models represents only link delays, due to considering flows on other links. Convergence has been an issue in assignment models that use intersection delay. Nevertheless, convergence has been observed in a reasonable amount of time in our model. The results of this paper suggest that intersection delay, as especially at unsignalized intersections where delays at minor legs are highly dependent on volumes, result in significantly different assignments. It has been also demonstrated that the model achieves a higher levels of calibration and it is more sensitive to intersection level policies. 000208046 650__ $$aResearch and Development/Tech Change/Emerging Technologies 000208046 650__ $$aTeaching/Communication/Extension/Profession 000208046 700__ $$aJeihani, Mansoureh 000208046 700__ $$aLawe, Stephen 000208046 700__ $$aConnolly, JP 000208046 773__ $$d2006 000208046 8564_ $$9faa857fa-26d2-48a5-8d13-0ba84d14d395$$s322285$$uhttps://ageconsearch.umn.edu/record/208046/files/2006_8B_IntersectionDelay_paper.pdf 000208046 887__ $$ahttp://purl.umn.edu/208046 000208046 909CO $$ooai:ageconsearch.umn.edu:208046$$pGLOBAL_SET 000208046 912__ $$nSubmitted by Lisa Vang (vang1490@umn.edu) on 2015-08-21T15:52:16Z No. of bitstreams: 1 2006_8B_IntersectionDelay_paper.pdf: 322285 bytes, checksum: ed7d7cbd168544c81fa629b7f4177914 (MD5) 000208046 912__ $$nMade available in DSpace on 2015-08-21T15:52:16Z (GMT).
