Abstract
The purpose of the research is to assess determinants of competition in the social market economy
and enterprises. Two research methods was applied: literature review and benchmarking. The results
of conducted analysis indicate that the social market economy based on free competition creates better
conditions of economy development than neo-liberalism, providing the balance between private and social
aims and higher consistency with sustainable development theory. Interference of market mechanism with
administrative competition reduces effectiveness of public support and its transparency and social justice.
