Abstract
The article analyzes size, value and structure of the export of apples from Poland. Major exporters and
importers were identified, and trends in foreign apple trade were analyzed. Markets of the major and potential
recipients of the Polish fruit were examined. Price competitiveness of the Polish products was specified.
Analysis covered the years 2001-2012. It was found that importance of the CIS countries in the export of
apples has been growing, whereas importance of the EU-12 has been decreasing. Quantitatively, sales to
the EU-15 have been increasing but participation of the old EU in the structure of sales has decreased.
Average prices of export of the Polish fruit were significantly lower than import prices on the markets of
Great Britain, Holland, Belgium and Germany.
