We compute the individual technical efficiency for each firm, compare the results and explain the relationship between technical efficiency and other relevant quantitative variables. The results indicate that the Spanish agrofood industry has a level of efficiency between 68% and 93%; which means that it is potentially capable of increasing production without increasing its consumption of inputs. This efficiency level is positively related to factor productivity and unitary labour costs. 000174311 546__ $$aEnglish 000174311 650__ $$aCrop Production/Industries 000174311 650__ $$aResearch and Development/Tech Change/Emerging Technologies 000174311 6531_ $$aSpanish agrofood industry 000174311 6531_ $$aTechnical efficiency 000174311 6531_ $$aStochastic frontier 000174311 700__ $$aApezteguia, Belen Iraizoz 000174311 700__ $$aGarate, Manuel Rapun 000174311 773__ $$q179$$o189$$tAgricultural Economics: The Journal of the International Association of Agricultural Economists$$j17$$k2-3$$dDecember 1997 000174311 8564_ $$98f87d4b7-e9de-4e6f-8692-808394deba4e$$s1151168$$uhttps://ageconsearch.umn.edu/record/174311/files/agec1997v017i002-003a006.pdf 000174311 887__ $$ahttp://purl.umn.edu/174311 000174311 909CO $$ooai:ageconsearch.umn.edu:174311$$pGLOBAL_SET 000174311 912__ $$nSubmitted by Jennifer Nelson (nels7877@umn.edu) on 2014-06-30T14:14:41Z No. of bitstreams: 1 agec1997v017i002-003a006.pdf: 1151168 bytes, checksum: d383beee126dabafe5ad8766c920abb1 (MD5) 000174311 912__ $$nMade available in DSpace on 2014-06-30T14:14:41Z (GMT).
