From a theoretical point of view we argue that FT should have a positive effect on child schooling since it generates a short run pure income effect together with a medium run productivity effect on both adult and child wages. On the other hand, because of the higher productivity generated by the medium run effect, the opportunity cost of child education increases if they work with their parents. The direction of the impact of FT affiliation on child schooling is therefore uncertain and requires empirical testing. Our econometric findings document a positive and significant impact of affiliation years on child schooling after controlling for endogeneity and heterogeneity between the treatment and control sample. 000138214 546__ $$aEnglish 000138214 650__ $$aLabor and Human Capital 000138214 6531_ $$aFair Trade 000138214 6531_ $$aChild Schooling 000138214 6531_ $$aImpact Study 000138214 700__ $$aBecchetti, Leonardo 000138214 700__ $$aCastriota, Stefano 000138214 700__ $$aMichetti, Melania 000138214 8564_ $$97c4a7091-5f0f-43bd-99f9-1afc48a28d9d$$s1419889$$uhttps://ageconsearch.umn.edu/record/138214/files/NDL2012-056.pdf 000138214 887__ $$ahttp://purl.umn.edu/138214 000138214 909CO $$ooai:ageconsearch.umn.edu:138214$$pGLOBAL_SET 000138214 912__ $$nSubmitted by Nancy Elera (nancy.elera@feem.it) on 2012-11-07T15:18:06Z No. of bitstreams: 1 NDL2012-056.pdf: 1419889 bytes, checksum: 31bc5a054b57d1f6b7d851f20429d6e3 (MD5) 000138214 912__ $$nMade available in DSpace on 2012-11-07T15:18:08Z (GMT).
