Para o estudo do agronegócio diferentes correntes teóricas se apresentam, com destaque para os Sistemas Agroindustriais (SAGs). Uma das correntes teóricas pertinentes ao estudo dos SAGs é a Teoria Econômica dos Custos de transação (ECT). Porém, para o entendimento dos sistemas produtivos é necessário o estudo de outras bases teóricas. A Economia Institucional, que enfatiza o papel das instituições formais traduzidas na forma de leis contratuais, tendo como foco a ECT, representa uma análise comparativa entre as formas alternativas de governança, com o intuito de minimizar custos de transações. Outra teoria de grande relevância é a Teoria Econômica das Convenções, que busca compreender as relações existentes entre os atores de um sistema e que permite agrupar modos de coordenação formais e informais. Realizando uma análise conjunta dessas teorias, definem-se novas estruturas de governança minimizadoras dos custos de transação, as quais englobam elementos da ECT e da Teoria das Convenções. Para aplicar esta análise foi realizado um estudo no sistema produtivo da piscicultura na região de Dourados e Campo Grande, Mato Grosso do Sul. Após a análise das transações percebe-se a importância dos acordos formais e informais. Nas transações onde a relação contratual se encontra presente, as especificidades dos ativos aumentam e as incertezas diminuem. Esta constatação está de acordo com a teoria apresentada pela ECT. Nas demais transações, os acordos informais são as transações mais freqüentes. Conclui-se que as complementaridades entre as teorias permitem propor modos alternativos de governança.-----------------------------------------------For the study of agribusiness different theoretical currents are presented, emphasis is given to agriculture industrial systems (SAGs).And one the current theoretical relevant to the study of the SAGs, is the economic theory of the costs of transactions (ECT). The understanding of production systems requires a study of other theoretical bases. The institutional economy, which emphasizes the role of institutions translated in the form of contractual law, with a focus on the ECT, is a comparative analysis between the alternative forms of governance in order to minimize the costs of transactions. Another theory is of great importance to economic theory of the convention, which seeks to understand the relationship between the players and a system that allows group modes of formal and informal coordination. Conducting joint analysis of these theories set up new structures of minimized governing of the costs of transactions, which comprise elements. To apply this analysis was conducted a study on the psyculture productive system in the regions of Dourados and Campo Grande in Mato Grosso do Sul. After reviewing the transaction realizes the importance of formal and informal agreements. In transactions where the contractual relationship is present, the specific asset increase and uncertainties decrease. The finding is consistent with the theory presented by the ECT. In others transactions, the informal agreements are the most frequent transactions. It is concluded that the complementarities between the theories allow propose alternative modes of governance.
